The Vernazza Opera Concerts
Vernazza Opera Concerts is the musical event that turns every Wednesday evening into an unforgettable experience. Founded in 2015 as Vernazza Opera Festival under the artistic direction of Roberto Tommasi and the Associazione La Fenice, the project has grown into one of the most anticipated events on the Riviera.
Since 2025, it has taken on its current name, while preserving the same enthusiasm and professionalism of its origins. Today, under the guidance of Maestro Cesare Goretta and the Associazione Andante Con Moto, the concerts welcome Italian and international artists who take turns performing on the stage of the ancient Oratory of the Santissima Trinità.
In the romantic setting of Vernazza, in the heart of the Cinque Terre, the voices and sounds of opera merge with the magic of the village, creating emotions that remain forever in the heart.

O mio babbino caro
Testo Originale
O mio babbino caro,
mi piace, è bello, bello;
vo' andare in Porta Rossa
a comperar l'anello!
Sì, sì, ci voglio andare!
E se l'amassi indarno,
andrei sul Ponte Vecchio,
ma per buttarmi in Arno!
Mi struggo e mi tormento!
O Dio, vorrei morir!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!
Translation
Oh, my dear daddy,
I love him, he is so handsome;
I want to go to Porta Rossa
to buy our wedding ring!
Yes, yes, I want to go there!
And if I loved him in vain,
I would go to the Ponte Vecchio,
only to throw myself into the Arno!
I am tormented, I am in anguish!
Oh God, I wish to die!
Daddy, have pity, have pity!

Non ti scordar di me
Testo Originale
Translation
The swallows departed
from my cold and sunless land,
seeking springs of violets,
nests of love and happiness.
My little swallow flew away
without leaving me a kiss, without a farewell,
she left. Do not forget me,
my life is bound to you.
I love you more and more,
in my dream it is you who remain.
Do not forget me,
my life is bound to you.
There is always a nest in my heart
for you.

Sola, perduta, abbandonata
Testo Originale
Sola, perduta, abbandonata
in landa desolata!
Orror!
Intorno a me s'oscura il ciel,
ahimè, son sola!
E nel profondo deserto,
deserto sconfinato
e immenso,
orrore!
A me s'avanza un'ombra…
ah! terrore!
Ahimè, son sola, abbandonata!
Ah! non voglio morir!
Amor, m'aiuta!

Alas, I am alone, abandoned!
Ah! I do not want to die!
Love, help me!

Tu che m'hai preso il cor
Testo Originale
Tu che m'hai preso il cuor,
Tu che m'hai preso il cuor,
e hai serbato il mio amor,
e hai serbato il mio amor.
(Mi hai legato per sempre!)
Sei la gioia, sei la vita,
sei la luce del mio ciel!
Tu che m'hai preso il cuor
e hai serbato il mio amor.
Finché un raggio di vita
mi resta nel cuore,
sarai sempre l'amor
che mi guida e mi strugge,
il mio sogno più bello,
il mio più gran desio.
Tu che mi hai reso felice
nell'amore e nella vita;

You who have captured my heart
and have kept my love.
As long as a ray of life
remains in my heart,
you will always be the love
that guides me and consumes me,
my most beautiful dream,
my greatest desire.
You who have made me happy
in love and in life;
you who have made me a lover!
My heart is you!
And forever my love will be you.

Un bel dì vedremo
Testo Originale
Un bel dì, vedremo
levarsi un fil di fumo
sull'estremo confin del mare
e poi la nave appare.
Poi la nave bianca
entra nel porto,
romba il suo saluto.
Vedi? È venuto!
Io non gli scendo incontro. Io no.
Mi metto là sul ciglio del colle
e aspetto, e aspetto gran tempo
e non mi pesa la lunga attesa.
E uscito dalla folla cittadina
un uomo, un picciol punto
s'avvia per la collina.
Chi sarà? Chi sarà?
E come sarà giunto
che dirà? Che dirà?
Chiamerà "Butterfly" dalla lontana.
Io senza dar risposta
me ne starò nascosta,
un po' per celia
e un po' per non morire
al primo incontro.
Ed egli alquanto in pena
chiamerà, chiamerà:
"Piccina mogliettina,
olezzo di verbena",
i nomi che mi dava al suo venire.
Tutto questo avverrà,
te lo prometto.
Tienti la tua paura,
io con sicura fede l'aspetto.
Translation
One fine day, we will see
arising a strand of smoke
over the far horizon on the sea
and then the ship appears.
Then the white ship
enters the port,
it rumbles its salute.
Do you see it? He is coming!
I don't go down to meet him, not me.
I stay on the edge of the hill
and I wait, and I wait a long time
and I don't grow tired from the long wait.
And leaving from the crowded city
a man, a little speck
climbing the hill.
Who is it? Who is it?
And as he arrives
what will he say? What will he say?
He'll call "Butterfly" from the distance.
I, without answering,
will stay hidden,
partly to tease him,
partly so as to not die
at the first meeting.
And then a little troubled
he'll call, he'll call:
"Little one, dear wife,
verbena blossom",
the names he gave me when he last came.
All this will happen,
I promise you this.
Hold back your fears,
with secure faith, I wait for him.

Vissi d'arte
Testo Originale
Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore,
non ho mai fatto male a nessuno!
eppure la mia fedeltà,
il mio amore, la mia devozione,
mi hanno portato alla rovina
e mi hanno condotto alla morte.
Io non sono mai stato un peccatore,
eppure la mia vita è stata amara
come un fiore, una farfalla,
una canzone, un'emozione,
una preghiera, una speranza,
un sogno, un desiderio.
Se anche il cielo ha decretato
che la mia vita debba finire,
spero che non mi giudichi
per il mio destino.
Possa la mia morte essere
una lezione per gli altri,
affinché non ripetano i miei errori,
né la mia sofferenza.
Translation
I lived for art, I lived for love;
I never harmed a single soul!
And yet my faithfulness,
my love, my devotion
led me to ruin
and have brought me to death.
I was never a sinner,
and yet my life has been bitter
like a flower, a butterfly,
a song, an emotion,
a prayer, a hope,
a dream, a desire.
If even heaven has decreed
that my life must end,
I only pray it will not judge me
for my fate.
May my death be
a lesson to others,
so they do not repeat my errors
nor my suffering.

Pace, pace mio Dio
Testo Originale
Pace, pace, mio Dio!
Cruda sventura m'astringe,
ahimè, a languir;
come il dì primo
da tant'anni dura.
Profondo il mio soffrir.
L'amai, gli è ver!
Ma di beltà e valore
cotanto Iddio l'ornò,
che l'amo ancor.
Né togliermi dal core
l'immagin sua saprò.
Fatalità! Fatalità! Fatalità!
Un delitto disgiunti
n'ha quaggiù!
Alvaro, io t'amo,
e su nel cielo è scritto:
non ti vedrò mai più!
Oh Dio, Dio, fa ch'io muoia;
che la calma può darmi
morte sol.
Translation
Peace, peace, my God!
Cruel misfortune compels me,
alas, to languish;
as on the first day,
so for many years it endures.
Deep is my suffering.
I loved him, it is true!
But God adorned him
with such beauty and valour
that I love him still.
Nor shall I be able to remove
his image from my heart.
Fate! Fate! Fate!
A crime has divided us
here below!
Alvaro, I love you,
and it is written in heaven:
I shall never see you again!
Oh God, God, let me die;
for only death
can give me peace.
