The Vernazza Opera Concerts

A nine-year story of music in the Cinque Terre

Vernazza Opera Concerts is the musical event that turns every Wednesday evening into an unforgettable experience. Founded in 2015 as Vernazza Opera Festival under the artistic direction of Roberto Tommasi and the Associazione La Fenice, the project has grown into one of the most anticipated events on the Riviera.

Since 2025, it has taken on its current name, while preserving the same enthusiasm and professionalism of its origins. Today, under the guidance of Maestro Cesare Goretta and the Associazione Andante Con Moto, the concerts welcome Italian and international artists who take turns performing on the stage of the ancient Oratory of the Santissima Trinità.

In the romantic setting of Vernazza, in the heart of the Cinque Terre, the voices and sounds of opera merge with the magic of the village, creating emotions that remain forever in the heart.

O mio babbino caro

da Gianni Schicchi
Italiano

Testo Originale

O mio babbino caro,
mi piace, è bello, bello;
vo' andare in Porta Rossa
a comperar l'anello!
Sì, sì, ci voglio andare!
E se l'amassi indarno,
andrei sul Ponte Vecchio,
ma per buttarmi in Arno!
Mi struggo e mi tormento!
O Dio, vorrei morir!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!

Translation

Oh, my dear daddy,
I love him, he is so handsome;
I want to go to Porta Rossa
to buy our wedding ring!

Yes, yes, I want to go there!
And if I loved him in vain,
I would go to the Ponte Vecchio,
only to throw myself into the Arno!

I am tormented, I am in anguish!
Oh God, I wish to die!
Daddy, have pity, have pity!

Non ti scordar di me

romanza · 1935
Italiano

Testo Originale

The swallows departed
from my cold and sunless land,
seeking springs of violets,
nests of love and happiness.

My little swallow flew away
without leaving me a kiss, without a farewell,
she left. Do not forget me,
my life is bound to you.

I love you more and more,
in my dream it is you who remain.

Do not forget me,
my life is bound to you.
There is always a nest in my heart
for you.

Testo Originale

Tu che m'hai preso il cuor,
Tu che m'hai preso il cuor,

e hai serbato il mio amor.
(Mi hai legato per sempre!)

Sei la gioia, sei la vita,

Tu che m'hai preso il cuor

Finché un raggio di vita
mi resta nel cuore,
sarai sempre l'amor

il mio sogno più bello,
il mio più gran desio.

Tu che mi hai reso felice
nell'amore e nella vita;
tu che mi hai fatto l'amante!
Il mio cuor sei tu!

E per sempre il mio amor sarai tu.

Look at the sea, how beautiful it is!
It inspires so much feeling.
Just like you, with whoever you take care of,

Look, look at this garden;
smell these orange blossoms:
such a fine perfume,
it goes straight to the heart.

And you say: "I am leaving, goodbye!"
You depart from this heart of mine,

do you have the heart not to return?

Pace, pace, mio Dio!
Cruda sventura m'astringe,

Né togliermi dal core

Fatalità! Fatalità! Fatalità!
Un delitto disgiunti

that I love him still.
Nor shall I be able to remove

Vissi d'arte

da Tosca
Italiano

Testo Originale

Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore,
non feci mai male ad anima viva!
Con man furtiva
quante miserie conobbi, aiutai…

Sempre con fé sincera,
la mia preghiera
ai santi tabernacoli salì.
Sempre con fé sincera
diedi fiori agli altar.

Nell'ora del dolore
perché, perché Signore,
perché me ne rimuneri così?

Diedi gioielli della Madonna al manto,
e diedi il canto agli astri, al ciel,
che ne ridean più belli.
Nell'ora del dolor
perché, perché Signor,
ah, perché me ne rimuneri così?

I lived for art, I lived for love,
I never harmed a living soul!
With a discreet hand
I relieved whatever miseries I knew of…

Always with true faith
my prayer
rose to the holy shrines.
Always with true faith
I gave flowers to the altar.

In this hour of pain,
why, why, oh Lord,
why do you reward me thus?

I gave jewels to the Madonna's mantle,
and offered my song to the stars, to heaven,
which smiled with more beauty.
In this hour of distress,
why, why, oh Lord,
ah, why do you reward me thus?
