Yes — bed linen, pillowcases and bath towels are all included and
freshly laundered for your arrival. You do not need to bring
anything.

At the end of your stay, simply leave used linen on the beds or
floor as instructed in your property information. Our housekeeping
team takes care of everything — no need to wash or fold anything.

and we will match you to the right property.

A note on gas hobs: several of our historic Vernazza properties
have traditional gas hobs. If you have never used one, just ask
at check-in and our team will show you in a minute.

Many of our properties have a washing machine — it is listed in
each property's amenities, so check before booking if it is
important to you.

Tumble dryers are rare in the Cinque Terre — and in Italy generally.
The tradition here is to dry laundry on lines or window racks,
which works perfectly in the Mediterranean climate. Some properties
have a dedicated drying rack, others use the classic Italian window
method. Details are in each property listing.

Most of our properties have electric water heaters rather than
central boilers. They heat up quickly but hold a finite amount —
two people can comfortably shower from the same tank if showers
are kept reasonably short. To help the hot water last for everyone, we kindly
ask you to turn off the water while soaping up
and keep showers as short as you comfortably can.

After about 10 minutes the heater tops up and the next person
is ready for a warm shower. It is a small adjustment, but one
that matters in a place where water is a shared and precious
resource.

Our property owners are committed to sustainability and many have
recently upgraded to more efficient systems — all to make your
stay more comfortable and environmentally friendly.

since 2017. Your property will have separate bins with instructions
— please follow them carefully during your stay.

Our housekeeping team takes care of waste removal at check-out.
However, if you go through a lot of glass bottles during your stay
— wine country, we completely understand — please take them to
the dedicated glass recycling containers located in each village
rather than leaving them all in the apartment.

Ah, the moka — the most Italian thing in any kitchen, and one
of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our
international guests!

We have actually removed moka pots from our properties for safety
reasons — used incorrectly, they can be genuinely dangerous
(think small explosion on your holiday morning, not ideal).
All our properties are equipped with a Nespresso machine instead,
which produces an excellent espresso with zero risk.

That said, if you are an experienced moka user and cannot imagine
a morning without one, just ask us — we will do our best to
provide one. We may, however, reserve the right to ask for
a small demonstration of competence first. You have been warned.

This is one of the most important things to understand
before booking in the Cinque Terre — and we prefer
to be completely honest about it.

The Cinque Terre National Park is a unique residential
area where houses literally steal space from the rocks.
The architecture here follows the same concept as
a tower — buildings grew one against the other,
sharing walls in an almost uninterrupted chain through
the village centres, with only narrow lanes called
"caruggi" breaking the sequence. This labyrinthine
structure was a brilliant defensive system in ancient
times, and it explains everything about how these
villages look and feel today.

The result: STEPS. Steps are the only way to access
most rooms and apartments here. No ancient building
in the Cinque Terre can have an elevator added —
the structure simply does not allow it. There is
genuinely no point writing in a review that
"the house has no elevator." That is just the
Cinque Terre way of life.

Property owners have done an enormous amount over
the years to improve and modernise their homes,
but they cannot change the fundamental structure
of buildings that are centuries old.

We are sorry to say it clearly, but guests with
significant mobility difficulties will find
the Cinque Terre challenging as a destination.

All these properties have very few steps from the
main road — a wheelchair with assistance can reach
them, though the interiors are not fully designed
for disabilities.

Book these early — they are in high demand precisely
because of their accessibility.

And a final thought: even with steps, there is something
magical about living as a local in these ancient tower
houses. They reveal hidden courtyards, extraordinary
staircases, private patios and views you simply cannot

Il Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre è un'area

Yes, if you are travelling from outside continental Europe
you will likely need a plug adapter.

Italy uses 220–240V AC current with two types of sockets:

Standard Italian socket — 2 or 3 round pins, grounded,
10A & 16A. This is the most common type in older buildings
and traditional properties.

Schuko socket (German standard) — 2 round pins, grounded,
16A, 220–240V. Increasingly common in Italy today and
compatible with plug types C, E and F. You will find
these in our more recently renovated properties.

What this means for you:
- UK travellers — you need an adapter. UK plugs
(3 flat pins) do not fit Italian sockets.
- US/Canada travellers — you need both an adapter
and a voltage converter for devices that only
support 110V. Most modern electronics (laptops,
phone chargers, cameras) are dual voltage —
check the label on your device.
- European travellers with standard 2-pin plugs —
you should be fine in most cases.

Universal travel adapters are widely available and
inexpensive. We recommend buying one before you travel
rather than looking for one in the villages.

Yes — Italian bed sizes follow different standards
from those used in the UK, US and other countries.
Here is what to expect:

DOUBLE BEDS:
- Standard Italian double bed ("letto matrimoniale")
— 160 cm / 63 in wide. This is what internationally
is called a Queen Size bed.
- King Size bed — 180 cm / 71 in wide. Rare in Italy,
but we do have a few in our portfolio — check
the individual listing.
- French size bed ("letto alla francese")
— 140 cm / 55 in wide. You will find these in some
of our properties, particularly where rooms are
compact. Space is precious in the Cinque Terre —
owners have always found clever ways to make
the most of every inch, as they have for centuries.

LENGTH:
- Standard Italian double bed — 190 to 200 cm /
75–79 in long.

SINGLE BEDS:
- Standard Italian single bed ("letto singolo")
— typically 80 or 90 cm x 190 cm /
31–35 in x 75 in.

If bed size is important to you — for example if you
are very tall or need a King Size — just ask us before
booking and we will match you to the right property.
